I prefer to get my watermelon from a nice guy at the farmer’s market, he always picks up the densest, well colored and sweetest watermelon. So check out your nearest farmer’s market during summer time, there are many farmers who let you taste an opened Watermelon before buying.
Can I tell a good watermelon by myself? For sure, Tap the watermelon with your knuckles, if it has a deep hallow sound then it’s the one. Even though I’m no expert but this technique seems to work. There are other ways to tell a good watermelon, one of them is to check the color, if it looks more matte and dark and not too shiny and light, then it’s probably a good one. The other way is to check the color of the field spot, it should have an orange or darker color, if it’s white then it’s better to avoid that one.
Which type of Feta cheese is best for this recipe? I prefer to use Greek feta, it’s tangy, a bit sharp and crumbles perfectly in salads.
