Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup 225g unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup 100g brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup 90g all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup 60g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup 90g semisweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  • Mix until well combined.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Add vanilla extract and stir.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until well combined.
  • Be careful not to overmix.
  • If using, mix the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it out evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
