Easy French Onion Dip Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 3 medium diced yellow onions you can replace with white onions
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • 1 ½ cups light sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons fresh chives choppedgt
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves swap with ¼ of dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt
  • ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Melt the butter over medium high heat in a large fry pan. Add the onions and sauté for 25 minutes, stirring every 2 to 3 minutes or until the onions are soft, caramelized and golden brown.
  • Briefly sauté the minced garlic for a minute or two. Remove from the stove and transfer the onions to a medium bowl. Put the bowl in the fridge, let it chill for 15 minutes.
  • Remove a couple tablespoons of the onion mixture to use as a garnish. Add the sour cream, fresh chives, Worcestershire sauce, and fresh thyme. Season with salt and pepper, then mix all ingredients to combine.
  • Top the onion dip with the caramelized onions you kept aside, drizzle some extra chives on top, if you like. Enjoy immediately or cover tightly with a plastic wrap and refrigerate.
