For the Cake

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • The chocolate chips can be bittersweet or semi-sweet or a mixture of the two
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

For the glaze

  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  • Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl set over simmering water, stirring until smooth and well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well blended.
  • Stir continuously until the chocolate mixture is fully incorporated into the egg mixture.
  • With a spatula, smooth the top of the batter in the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Before transferring the cake to a wire rack to cool completely, let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
