First step is preparing the rice. I usually go with the stove method to cook rice. Start by washing the rice under cold water until the water becomes clear, then transfer it to a pot with 2 cups of water. Increase the heat to boil, then lower the heat, cover the pot and let it simmer for about 15 minutes to allow the water is fully absorbed. Take it off the heat and allow it to rest briefly before fluffing with a fork.
Second step is cooking the ground beef. Set a large skillet over medium heat and add in the ground beef. Cook for about 5 to 7 minutes, breaking it apart to pieces while cooking. Remove any extra grease if necessary, then add in the minced garlic and ginger and cook for a minute or two until fragrant. Mix in the sesame oil, soy sauce and chopped green onions, then add some salt and pepper. Let it simmer for couple minutes to allow the flavors to come together.
Third step is assembling the bowl. Spoon a hearty amount of cooked rice into the bottom of your serving bowl. Place the ground beef mixture over the rice. If you choose to include veggies in your recipe, place them on top or around the ground beef. Finish by sprinkling some sesame seeds, chopped green onions or any other topping you prefer. Enjoy!
