Ingredients

  • 1 to 6 large eggs
  • What utensils do I need for this recipe?
  • Pot or saucepan medium to large
  • Skimmer or slotted spoon to gently place in the eggs and to remove them afterward
  • Timer to keep track of the exact cooking time
  • Ice water bowl to halt the cooking and cool the eggs

Instructions

  • Fill up a medium sized pot with enough water to cover the eggs by about 1 inch and let it boil.
  • In the meantime, get the eggs out of the fridge and set them on the counter to bring to room temperature. Fill a bowl with ice and water to make an ice bath and put it aside.
  • Once the water is boiling, lower the heat and gently add the eggs to the pot, then increase the heat back to a boil. (You can use a slotted spoon to safely place the eggs in the pot)
  • Cook the eggs for 12 to 14 minutes (you can use a timer to be precise).
  • Using the skimmer, remove the boiled eggs and gently place them in the ice water bowl (I highly recommend not skipping this step).
  • Remove the shell of the eggs either by rolling them on the counter top or tapping against it.
