Chewy Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Easy, Indulgent, and Aesthetic Chocolate Crinkle Cookies – These Chewy Chocolate Crinkle Cookies Make a Heavenly Treat for Holiday Gatherings or Casual Snacking!

Baking season is back and these Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are one of my absolute favorite Christmas cookies. Simple, indulgent and beautiful looking cookies with a soft and chewy texture. The taste and texture make them so rich and irresistible!
Homemade cookies make a considerate gift during the holiday season. You can take them to gatherings, birthdays, parties or game nights. Place the Chocolate Crinkle cookies in a glass jar and tie a cute ribbon around the jar or stick a thank you note or place them a holiday themed gift bag or personalized packaging. I sometimes prefer to simply use a large mason jar. I add a cute ribbon and stick a note on the glass jar, then gift it as a simple gesture to thank a friend, a colleague or family member for their constant care, love, and effort throughout the year.

Helpful Tips and Variation:

How can I replace the all-purpose flour? Substitute with whole wheat flour or a gluten free all purpose flour.
Can I add in chocolate chips? Definitely! You can add your favorite chocolate chips. You can also opt for thinly chopped nuts or chopped dates.
How can I modify the flavors? You can add a teaspoon of espresso powder if you’re a fan of coffee to get a deeper taste; especially if you’re using chocolate chips. Adding a few tablespoons of peanut butter would also be great.
How can I replace the powdered sugar? You can roll the dough instead in granulated sugar or cocoa powder.
Can I add a fruity flavor to these Chocolate Crinkle Cookies? Besides the lime or lemon zest, you can add dried fruit pieces or blueberries. You can blend a bit of fruit jam, fruit puree or fruit powder in your cookie dough.
How can I store any leftovers? I prefer to keep them on my kitchen counter in a large glass or acrylic container with a lid. You can enjoy them for up to 4 days but I’m sure they won’t last that long.
Can I freeze this recipe? Definitely! Place the crinkle cookies in an airtight container (freezer safe), separate the layers with parchment paper and keep them for up to 3 months.
