Easy Mayo and Sour Cream Dip Recipe – It’s Rich, Creamy, Oniony and Absolutely Flavorful!

Next time you’re having your friends over and you’ve got only little time to spare, no muss no fuss is needed, serve this rich and flavorful mayo, dill, and sour cream dip in a nice bowl at the center of your serving platter, surrounded with a lovely, colorful garden of freshly cut or sliced vegetables. It looks bright, rich and SO appetizing!

Helpful Tips and Variations:

Which mayo sauce is best for this recipe? For this cream dip I use Hellman’s Reals mayonnaise, but you can use any mayo at hand.
How to substitute Lawry’s salt? Lawry’s Real seasoning has a nice mix of salt, paprika, garlic, turmeric and celery. However, it’s not totally necessary, you can use any mix of dip seasoning you prefer, such as ranch seasoning or you could simply use the right amount of salt.
What about a mayonnaise sub? If you’re not into mayonnaise taste, it’s completely understandable. You can replace with an unflavored Greek yogurt.
What’s a good substitute for sour cream? Full fat Greek Yogurt or cream cheese make a good substitute for sour cream, they have a very close flavor and texture.
Can I add other ingredients? You can add some jalapeno for a little heat. You could also add some shredded bacon or some Parmesan or Cheddar cheese for a cheesy gooey dip. If you like your dips to have a little zesty flavor, you can squeeze a little lemon juice, or throw in some lemon zest.
Can I store this dipping sauce in the fridge? This homemade sour cream dip should be placed in an airtight container. It will keep for 5 to 7 days in the fridge. Even though, you can totally freeze dips for up to 2 months in the fridge. I don’t really recommend doing it, once it defrosts, it becomes grainy and like most dairy products, a little watery.
Can I make this recipe in advance? Absolutely! This is the cold kind of dip and it’s best served cold, so the longer it sits, the better it tastes, as the spices and herbs blend together.

How Can I Serve this Dill and Sour Cream Dip Recipe?

You can enjoy this delicious sour cream dip as a light snack along some chips or veggies while chilling at the comfort of your own home, watching TV, working, or studying. I also like to use this dip as a sandwich spread. I use some in different kinds of bread wraps and since it’s Keto friendly, you can totally enjoy spreading some on any bread alternative you prefer.
You can also serve this cream dip at a casual family gathering. As part of a pre-dinner party snack along some cucumber or carrot sticks, healthy zucchini or eggplant chips, tortilla chips, pita or garlic bread, crackers, and all kinds of raw vegetables sliced into sticks.
