Helpful Tips and Variations:

What apples work well for this recipe? It all depends on your own personal preference. If you like your apples to be a bit firmer and crunchier, then make sure to use Honey-crisp apples for this recipe, but if you prefer your apple to be less crispy and have a rather dense and juicy bite, then opt for the Granny Smith apples.
Can I use other fruit? Certainly! It’s called fruit salsa for a reason, feel free to add whichever fruit you prefer or what you have got on hand. Sometimes, I love adding some freshly cut pineapples but be careful while choosing the pineapple, they should still have a fresh smell and be more golden in color and less green. You can also add some mango, papaya or blueberries.
Is it necessary to add the lemon juice? The lemon juice keeps the apples from browning and gives the fruit salsa a great kick of flavors. If lemon juice is not your thing, then swap it for some orange juice.
Can I skip using the sugar?Of course! If you don’t want to use sugar in this recipe, just forget about it and use some honey or maple syrup instead. Don’t forget that honey is not only sweet but it’s also packed with nutritional benefits.
Can I store any leftovers? You can definitely store any leftovers in the fridge. Keep in a perfectly sealed container for up to 2 days. Bear in mind, the longer you keep you keep them in the fridge, the more liquid the fruit will release.
